هل تعلم أن الأرض المخصصة لمجمع السفارة الأمريكية في القدس كانت مملوكة لعشرات العائلات الفلسطينية المقدسية ؟
بل إن كثيرًا من أبناء هذه العائلات لا يعلمون حتى اليوم أن أسماء آبائهم وأجدادهم ما زالت مدونة في السجلات التاريخية كمالكين لهذه الأرض.
تقع هذه الأرض في مجمع أللنبي (Allenby Compound) بحي البقعة، وتبلغ مساحتها نحو 30 دونمًا. وقد كانت خلال فترة الانتداب البريطاني مؤجرة للحكومة البريطانية لإقامة ثكنات عسكرية، ثم طرأت عليها التحولات القانونية والإدارية التي أعقبت عام 1948.
واليوم، وبعد الإعلان عن تخصيص الموقع ليكون المقر الدائم لمجمع السفارة الأمريكية، رأيت أن من واجبي، بصفتي أحد ورثة المالكين الأصليين، أن أبدأ بجمع الوثائق وربط الورثة بعضهم ببعض، حتى لا تضيع الذاكرة التاريخية لهذه الأرض.
لهذا السبب أشارككم هذه الورقة التوثيقية، التي أُعدّت بالاعتماد على السجلات التاريخية والخرائط والوثائق المتاحة، وأدعو جميع الورثة إلى مراجعة الأسماء الواردة فيها.
قد يكون اسم عائلتك موجودًا بين هذه القوائم، وقد يكون أحد أقاربك وريثًا لحق تاريخي لا يعلم بوجوده حتى الآن.

Did you know that the land recently designated by the Israeli and U.S. governments as the future permanent site of the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem was originally privately owned by dozens of Palestinian families?
Many descendants of those original owners may not even be aware that their parents’ and grandparents’ names still appear in historical land ownership records.
The property, known as the Allenby Compound in the Baqa neighborhood of Jerusalem, covers approximately 30 dunums (about 7.5 acres). During the British Mandate, it was leased by the British Government from its Palestinian owners for use as military barracks. Following the events of 1948, the property became subject to subsequent legal and administrative measures.
Today, following the announcement that this site has been designated as the future permanent location of the U.S. Embassy compound, I believe it is my responsibility, as one of the descendants of the original owners, to help document the history of this land and reconnect the heirs of its original owners.
For this reason, I am sharing the attached documentary fact sheet, prepared on the basis of historical records, maps, and publicly available documentation.
Your family name may appear on these lists. You, or someone you know, may be among the heirs of the original owners without even realizing it.
